Chekkalu or Garelu is a special type of traditional snack prepared mainly in South States. It is called Thattai in Tamil. These Chekkalu or Garelu are crispy and will be made with rice flour and mixed with Alasanda or Black Eyed Peas(Lobhi), Red Chilli Powder, Butter, Curry Leaves and fried in oil. Chekkalu are most favorite food for Indians and a compulsory snack prepared during most of the the festivals. This Indian favorite snack is best for evening tea times. Chekkalu or Garelu can keep up to 30 days in room temperature.
